Clubs and organizations (particularly youth-based groups) can support their community by creating Hero Packs (backpacks or bags filled with various items). The "hero" is the child left at home taking on extra responsibilities while their parent is deployed.
A letter or card is a vital piece of the Hero Pack.

Not only do young people fill backpacks with goodies, they also write a letter for the "hero" receiving the pack. The single most important part of a Hero Pack is a letter written from a child to the child who has a loved-one in the military. Hero Packs are for ages 5-18. We use backpacks or small drawstring bags. We also have Operation: Military Kids Resource information to include with the packs.

Military Kids bag and we will send it to you with a few items in it. Below are suggestions for Hero Pack items that your group could collect.
