Long Beach VA Hospital Visit

Every 4th Thursday of the Month

You can either meet at the Legion Post and car pool with other volunteers or meet them at the VA Hospital.

We visit the L1 Ward which is the PTSD unit. There are younger and older patients, male (mostly) female (up to 13 patients), all from different circumstances. We engage the patients with conversation (if willing), help hand out the food and help them with refills/seconds. We aim for a lighthearted atmosphere.

Generally we get in about 3 games of BINGO (with help from the volunteers) that we play until all are winners and receive their chosen prize.

If you prefer to donate money that will be great too.

Food items for sandwiches (turkey, ham, and sometimes beef) are made prior to the visit.

Food items such as chips, cookies, fruit, sodas, nuts, and juice are always needed.

It’s really a wonderful way to volunteer your time.

Thank you!
